NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the powers conferred by Sections 200 and 201 of the A.P. Panchayat Raj Act,

1994 read with A.P. Conduct of Election of Co-opted Member, President and Vice-President of

Mandal Praja Parishad and Co-opted Members, Chairperson and Vice-Chairpersons of Zilla Praja

Parishad Rules, 2006 issued in G.O.Ms.No.173, PR & RD (Elections) Dept, dated 10.05.2006, the

State Election Commissioner, hereby, directs any Gazetted Officer of the Government authorized

by the Collectors and District Election Authorities concerned to conduct election to the following

vacancies of Vice-Presidents of Mandal Praja Parishads in accordance with the procedure laid

down in the said Rules and specifies the election schedule in the Annexure-I appended to this

Notification.

(Schedule for conduct of elections to Vice-President of Narasaraopet MPP in Guntur District

and Galiveedu and Sidhout MPPs in YSR District)

Notice to be given by the Gazetted Officer authorized by District

Collector, calling for Special Meeting for conduct of election of

Vice-President of Mandal Praja Parishad.

(This notice should be given to all the Members of Mandal Praja

Parishad specified in clauses (i) to (v) of Sec.149 (1) of A.P.

Panchayat Raj Act 1994)

Note:

1. An illustrative Notice indicated at Annexure-II shall be served to all the Members of the

Mandal Praja Parishad inviting them for the special meeting for the election of Vice-

President of MPP.

2. Rule 9 (2) of the A.P. Conduct of Election of Co-opted Member, President and Vice-

President of MPP and Co-opted Members, Chairperson and Vice-Chairpersons of ZPP Rules,

2006 stipulates that where election of President or Vice-President of MPP could not be

conducted in the first two special meetings convened for the purpose, for want of quorum,

the President or Vice-President shall be elected in the subsequent meeting or meetings

convened for the purpose from among the Members present without insisting for quorum.

3. As the election of Vice-President of MPPs covered by this notification could not be

conducted in the first two special meetings convened earlier for want of quorum and also in

the subsequent meeting for other reasons, the election of Vice-President shall be held in

the special meeting convened for this purpose in pursuance of this Notification without

insisting for quorum.
