NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the powers conferred by Sections 200 and 201 of the Andhra Pradesh

Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 read with Andhra Pradesh Conduct of Election of

Co-opted Member, President and Vice-Presidents of Mandal Praja Parishad and

Co-opted Members, Chairperson and Vice-Chairpersons of Zilla Praja Parishad Rules, 2006,

the State Election Commissioner, hereby, directs any Gazetted Officer of the Government

authorized by the Collector and District Election Authority, Visakhapatnam to conduct

election to the casual vacancy of President, Mandal Praja Parishad, Makavarapalem

in accordance with the procedure laid down in the said Rules and specifies the Election

Schedule in the Annexure appended to this Notification.

The election of Vice-President, Mandal Praja Parishad, Makavarapalem shall

also be taken up soon after completion of the election of President as per the schedule

already specified vide Notification No. 1720/SEC-B1/2021-1, dt.28.12.2021.

(Schedule for conduct of election to the casual vacancy of President,

Mandal Praja Parishad of Makavarapalem in Visakhapatnam District)

1.

Notice to be given by the Gazetted Officer authorized by

District Collector, calling for Special Meeting for conduct of

election of President of Mandal Praja Parishad.

(This notice should be given to all Members of Mandal Praja

Parishad specified in clauses (i) to (v) of Section 149 (1) of

Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act, 1994)

On or before

31.12.2021

Date and time for Special Meeting for the election.

At 11.00 AM on

04.01.2022

Note:

1. Election shall be conducted for not only the casual vacancy of the President, but

also for one more Vice-President in MPP Makavarapalem in pursuance of

Notification No. 1720/SEC-B1/2021-1, dt.28.12.2021.

2. Quorum for election of President and Vice-President shall be fulfilled as stipulated

under Rule 9 of the Andhra Pradesh Conduct of Election of Co-opted Member,

President and Vice-Presidents of Mandal Praja Parishads and Co-opted Members,

Chairperson and Vice-Chairpersons of Zilla Praja Parishad Rules, 2006.

3. Only after completion of election of President, the Presiding Officer shall conduct

election to the office of Vice-President. No election to the office of Vice-President

shall be conducted unless the office of the President is filled up as stipulated under

Rule 10 (4) of the said Rules.

4. If for any reason election of President/Vice-President is not held on 04.01.2022, it

shall be held on the next day, i.e., on 05.01.2022 at 11.00 A.M., whether or not it is

observed as a holiday by the Mandal Praja Parishad. If the election is also not held

on 05.01.2022, the matter shall be reported to the State Election Commission for

fixing another date for holding election under Rule 8 (3) of the said Rules.
