NOTIFICATION

Whereas, in the Lr.Roc.No.13021/40/2026/H1, dated: 11.07.2026, the Commissioner &

Director of Municipal Administration, A.P. has requested the Government for appointment of the

Collector and District Magistrate, Eluru District as Special Officer to the Eluru Municipal Corporation to

perform the functions of the Corporation, the Standing Committee, as the term of the elected body

and the tenure of the Mayor of Eluru Municipal Corporation are going to be expired on 29.07.2026

(A.N.) and it is not possible to conduct ordinary elections to the said Urban Local Body before the

expiry of the present term of the elected body, i.e., 29.07.2026.

In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso under Section 70-G of Greater Hyderabad

Municipal Corporation Act, 1955 read with Section 14 of the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporations

Act, 1994, the Government of Andhra Pradesh hereby appoint the Joint Collector, Eluru as Special

Officer to the Eluru Municipal Corporation for a period of (6) months i.e from 30.07.2026 to

29.01.2027 or till the elected body comes into office, whichever is earlier.

The Commissioner & Director of Municipal Administration, AP, is requested to take necessary

action accordingly.
