NOTIFICATION

The 9th February, 2024

No. SFRI/APBB/31/2016/921.— In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 37

of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002 and Rule 22 of the Arunachal Pradesh Biodiversity Rules, 2011, the State

Government of Arunachal Pradesh, in consultation with Arunachal Pradesh Biodiversity Board (APBB), hereby

notifies the designated sacred place at Shergaon under West Kameng District, described here as “Thungeey

Gonpu (Kamcho Yaam) Biodiversity Heritage Site”, under.

Short title : This Notification may be called as the ‘Final Notification of Thungeey Gonpu (Kamcho

Yaam) Biodiversity Heritage Site (BHS)’. It will come into force on the date of its publication in the

Arunachal Pradesh Gazette.

Extent of application : This notification shall apply to the designated Thungeey Gonpu (Kamcho Yaam)

at Shergaon Village, West Kameng District. The details of the area and boundary of the proposed BHS

are given in the land schedule below :

Natural Boundaries of Thungeey Gonpu (kamcho Yaam), BHS :

East :

Thence, from point B at N 27°06'27.88' E 92°17’21.13' on the Shergaon-Doimara road the boundary

moves along the North Easterly direction along the unnamed ridge of Shergaon USF and meet

point C at N 27°07'42.83' E 92°18'19.40'.

West : Thence, from point D at N 27°07'40.46' E 92°16’28.55’ the boundary moves along the

South Westerly direction along the unnamed ridge of Shergaon USF and meet the initial

point A at N 27°07'34.00' E 92°16'05.88'

North : Thence, from point C at N 27°07'42.83' E 92°18'19.40' the boundary moves along the North

Westerly direction along the unnamed ridge of Shergaon USF and meet point D at N 27°07'40.46'

E 92°16'28.55'.

South : From the point A at N 27°07'34.00' E 92°16'05.88' the boundary moves along the South Easterly

direction along the Shergaon-Doimara road and meet point B at N 27°06'27.88' E 92°17'21.13'.

Management of the BHS :

A committee constituted for management of BHS or the Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC) in

whose jurisdiction the BMC is located shall be responsible for the management of BHS. The Arunachal

Pradesh Biodiversity Board shall give guidance to the concerned BMC. The Forest and Environment

Department, Government of Arunachal Pradesh shall notify in official gazette, suitable rules for the

management of the Biodiversity Heritage Sites (BHS). Till such time the rules are notified, the BHS shall

be managed in accordance with the guidelines for identification, notification and management of BHS,

issued by the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA).

Natural Boundaries of Lyago, BHS :

North : Private paddy field of Hibu, Punyo and Tapi clan

West : Private Bamboo Grooves of Hibu, Punyo clan

South : Private Bamboo Grooves, paddy fields and paddy nurseries of Bullo-Mudang and

Takhe-Tinyo clan

East : Private Bamboo Grooves and Pine Grooves of Kago-Narang, Nami-Tilling and Tallo-Budhi clan.
