NOTIFICATION

The 26th August, 2026

No. HOME-12017/8/2025/871.—In compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of Indian

in Suo Motu Writ Petition (Civil) No. 10 of 2024 - In Re:Discrimination Inside Prisons in India, the Government

of Arunachal Pradesh hereby makes the following amendment in the Arunachal Pradesh Prison Manual, 2017

as follows :-

1.

(i)

This Manual may be called the Arunachal Pradesh Prison Manual (Amendment), 2026.

(ii)

They shall come into effect immediately

2.

Amendment of Rule 26.04 (iii) of Arunachal Pradesh Prison Manual, 2017.

In the Arunachal Pradesh Prison Manual, 2017 for the existing provision in clause/point 26.04

(iii) namely ; “Habitual offender, prostitutes and brothel keepers must also be confined separately” shall

be deleted.
