S.O.149 (E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 4 of the Census Act, 1948 (37 of

1948), the Central Government hereby appoints Shri Pradip Hazarika an officer of the Indian Administrative Service

(AM:SCS:87), as the Director of Census Operations, to supervise the taking of census within the State of Assam, for the

2001 census.
