NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 12th December, 2001

O.N. 51(E).—Whereas, the Government of West Bengal have intimated that the English version of the name

"Calcutta" has been altered as "Kolkata";

2. And whereas, the Commission considers it necessary and expedient to adopt the said revised name in the

names of the constituencies and of territorial divisions referred to in the description of the constituencies in the SCHEDULE

XXUf of the Delimitaiion ol Parliamentary and Assembly Constituencies Order, 1976. to bring the order up-to-date.

3 Now, therefore, in exercises of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 9 of the Representation of

the People Act 1950 and all other powers enabling it in this behalf, the Election Commission, hereby, makes the following

corrections in the English version of the Delimitation ofParliamcntary and Assembly Constituencies Order, 1976:—

(i) The names 6rtlie Parliamentary Constituencies mentioned in Part A of SCHEDULE XX1TI at Senal Nos 21,22

and 23 shall be corrected to read as—

21 Kolkata North West;

22 Kolkata North East;

23. Kolkata South;

(ii) In PART B of SCHEDULE XXUL —

(a) The name of the CALCUTTA DISTRICT occurring below serial No 138 shall be corrected to read as

"KOLKATAD1STRICT".

(b) In the description of the extent of the assembly constituencies at serial Nos. 139 to 160 in "KOLKATA

DISTRICT', the words "Calcutta Corporation", wherever they occur shall be corrected to read as "Kolkata

Corporation".
