NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 4th February, 2002

S.O. t71(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 19B of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 (13 of 1885),

the Central Government hereby makes the following amendments in the notification of the Government of India in Ihe

Ministry of Communications (Department of Telecommunications), Licensing Group (Basic Service Cell) number

S.O. 646(E) dated 9th September, 1997, namely :• -

In the said notification-

fa) i n the first paragraph, for the words and brackets, "private basic tel ephone service operator(s)", the words

and brackets "private basic or cellular telephone service operator(s)" shall be substituted;

- (b) for the Explanation, the following explanation shall be substituted, namely:—-

"Explanation: For the purpose of this notification, "service" means transmission of voice or non-voice

messages inclu sive of ISPN (Integrated Service Digital Network) facilities over the said licensee's Network

and does not include, broadcasting of voice or non-voice message over wire or wireless media."
