NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 1 st March, 2002

S.O, 271 (E).—In pursuance of section 5 of the Public

Provident Fund Act, 196X (23 of 1968), the Central Government

hereby notifies the rate of interest applicable on the subscrip-

tions made to the Fund on or after the 1st day of March, 2002

and for that purpose makes the following amendments in the

notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Fi-

nance (Department of Economic Affairs) number S.O. 48(E).

dated the 15th January, 2000, namely :—

In the said notification,—

(a)

in the second proviso, lor the words, figures and

letters "the 1st day of March, 2001", the words,

figures and letters 'the 1 st day of March, 2001 but

before the 1st day of March, 2002" shall be substi-

tuted;

(b)

after the second proviso, the following proviso shall

be inserted, namely:—

'"Provided also that the subscriptions made to the

Fund on or after the 1st day of March, 2002 and

balances at the credit of the subscriber shall bear

interest at the rate of nine per cent per annum.".
