NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 1 st April, 2002

(INCOME-TAX)

S.O.356 (E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by

Section 295 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 (43 of 1961), the

Central Board of Direct Taxes hereby makes the following

rules further to amend the Income-tax Rules, 1962, namely:—

1.(1) These rules may be called the Income-tax (Fifth

Amendment) Rules, 2002.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their

publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Income-tax Rules, 1962, in rule 11K, in clause

(i), after item (p), the following items shall be inserted,

namely:—

"(q) plantation of softwood on degraded non-forest

land;

(r) any programme of conservation of natural resources

or of afforestation;".
