NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 8th April. 2002

G.S.R. 266 (E\—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 24 of the Transplantation

of Human Organs Act, 1994 (42 of 1994), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend

the Transplantation of Human Organs Rules, 1995, nernely:—

1. (1) These rules may be called the Transplantation of Human Organs (Amendment) Rules, 2002.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In rule 5 of the Transplantation of Human Organs Rules, 1995 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules), the

following proviso shall be inserted, nemely :—

"Provided that the eye ball removed shall be preserved in the following three steps, namely :—

(i) short-term preservation;

(ii) medium-term preservation;

(iii) long-term preservation,

and suitable media shall be used for preservation".

3. In rule 9 of the said rules,—

(a) under the heading "GENERAL REQUIREMENT", after serial number 7 and the entry relating thereto, the

following serial numbers and entries shall be inserted, namely :—

"8. Ophthalmologist

9, Comeal Surgeons.";

(b) under the heading "VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS", after serial number 17 and the entry relating thereto, the

following serial number and entry shall be inserted, namely .—

"18. Department of Ophthalmology":

(c) under the heading "NON-TRANSPLANTATION PROGRAMME TEAM", after serial number 4 and the

entry relating thereto, the following serial number and entry shall be inserted, namely --

"5. Eye Donation Counsellor/Grief Counsellor.";

(d) under the heading "BASIC EQUIPMENT", the existing entry shall be numbered as entry 1 and after entry

1 as so numbered, the following entries shall be inserted, namely .—

"2. Slit Lamp

^. Specular Microscope

4. Operating Microscope.";

(e) under the heading ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT REQUDIED FOR "TRANSPLANTATION PROGRAMME",

after serial number 6 and the entry relating thereto the following serial numbers and entries shall be

inserted nemely :—

'7. Autoclavti (mandatroy)
