NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 12th April, 2002

S.o.4i7(E).— in exercise of the powers conferred by sub section (4) of section

15 of the Oil Industry (Development) Act, 1974 (47 of 1974), read with section

5(A) of the Central Excise Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), the Central Government, being

satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby exempts the duty

of excise on crude oil production from the fields under the Production Sharing

Contracts mentioned in the Table below to the extent of rupees nine hundred per

tonne as against the rate of duty of excise of Rupees One thousand eight hundred

per tonne specified vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of

Petroleum and Natural Gas number S.O.259(E) dated the 28^th February, 2002.
