NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 2nd September, 2002

G.S.R. 612 (E).—In exercise of the powers conferred

by Section 7 of the Indian Post Office Act, 1898 (6 of

I89X). the Central Government hereby makes the following

Riles further to amend the Indian Post Office Rules, 1931,

namclv —

1(1) These rules ma\ be railed the Indian Post Office

(Fourth Amendment) Rules. 2002

(2) They shall conic into force on the date of their

publication in Official Giizette.

2. Inlhc Indian Post Office Rules, 1933 (hereinafter

referred to as Ihe said rules), in rule 1, after the heading

"Competition post cards" and The entries relating thereto,

the following heading and entries shall be inserted,

namely. -

"Mcghdoot post card-

For a mcghdoot post card ... 25 paise".

3 In the said rules, in rale 11, after sub-rule (3), the

following sub-rule shall be inserted, namely:—-

"(4) A post card shall be deemed to be a meghdoot

post card il it is so marked and provides in the space on the

left hand portion of the address side, a space for single

colour or mulli colour printed advertisement and il shall be

charged as per the rate of postage .specified for meghdoot

post card in rule I subject to the following conditions,

namch . —

(a) that such advertisement shall bear pictorial

depictions or messages or both;

(b) that no advertisement shall be printed

anywhere else except the space provided

therefor on such post card;

the word ''Mcghdoot post card" shall be

printed in Hindi and English;

(d) that the obverse side of such post card shall

be used for communication only,

(I) that such post card shall conform to the

dimensions and substance of post card

specified in clauses (b) and (c) ot sub-rule (I)

respectively."¹
