NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 21st December, 2009

S.O. 3316(E).—Whereas the following draft rules further to amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

(Slaughter House) Rules, 2001 is hereby published, as required by sub-section (1) of section 38 of the Prevention of Cruelty

to Animals Act, 1960 (59 of 1960), for the information of the public likely to be affected thereby, and the notice is hereby

given that the said draft rules shall be taken into consideration on or after the expiry of a period of forty-five days from the

date of publication of this notification.

And whereas any person desirous of making any suggestions or objections with respect to the said rules may

forward the same, within the period so specified, to the Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Paryavaran

Bhawan, CGO Complex, New Delhi

DRAFT RULES

L (1) These rules may be called Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Slaughter House) (Amendment) Rules. 2009.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their final publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Slaughter House) Rules 2001, in rule 9, in sub-rule (1), for the words

"any person or Animal Welfare Organisation authorized by it, may", the words "a State Animal Welfare Board or any

person who is a qualified veterinarian and is authorized by the Animal Welfare Board of India, may, at least once in every

six months period" shall be substituted.
