RESOLUTION

New Delhi, the 13th January, 2014

No. 1/27/2011-DCH/Coordn./AIHB.—In continuation of Government of India Resolution of even number

dated 2nd January, 2014. Shri Madhukant Giri, S/o Shri Bal Krishan Giri, R/o Gasain Gali, Bhimgauda Ward No.13,

District Haridwar, Uttarakhand has been nominated as Non-Official member of the All India Handloom Board.

2. The term of the office of the above member will be concurrent with the presently constituted Board i.e. for a

period of two years w.e.f. 2nd January, 2014 to 1st January, 2016.

3. Attention is invited to Member of All India Handloom Board towards Ministry of Textile’s O.M.

F. No. 14015/1/2011-Gen. dated 4.7.2011 regarding guidelines prohibiting use of national emblem by non-official

members of Board/Committees (copy enclosed).

4. The Board will advise the Government in formulation of the overall development programme in the

handloom sector keeping in view socio-economic, cultural and artistic perspective. In particular, the Board will advise

the Government regarding achievement of the following objectives :—

(i)

to make handlooms an effective instrument for reducing unemployment and under-employment and

to achieve higher living standards for weavers;

(ii)

to preserve and promote the craft heritage of our handlooms;

(iii)

to devise strategies for expanding markets for handlooms within the country and abroad;

(iv)

to take steps for effective co-ordination of developmental efforts of various State Governments/Union

Territories in this sector; and

(v)

to review progress of development and welfare schemes of handloom weavers from time to time.

5. This issues with the approval of the Hon’ble Minister of Textiles.
