THE CENTRAL UNIVERSITIES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2014

NO. 35 OF 2014

[17th December, 2014.]

An Act further to amend the Central Universities Act, 2009.

BE it enacted by Parliament in the Sixty-fifth Year of the Republic of India as

follows:—

1.(1) This Act may be called the Central Universities (Amendment) Act, 2014.

(2) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notifi-

cation in the Official Gazette, appoint.

2. After section 3A of the Central Universities Act, 2009 (hereinafter referred to as

the Principal Act), the following section shall be inserted, namely:—

"3B. (1) The Central University of Bihar established under sub-section (4) of

section 3 shall be known as the Central University of South Bihar, having its territorial

The following Act of Parliament received the assent of the President on the

17th December, 2014, and is hereby published for general information:—

jurisdiction extending to the territory in the south of River Ganges in the State of

Bihar, as specified in the First Schedule to this Act.

(2) There shall be established a University, which shall be a body corporate, to

be known as the Mahatma Gandhi Central University, having its territorial jurisdiction

extending to the territory in the north of the River Ganges in the State of Bihar, as

specified in the First Schedule to this Act.”.

4. In the First Schedule to the principal Act, for serial number 1 and the entries relating

thereto, the following serial numbers and entries shall be substituted, namely:—
