New Delhi, the 21st July, 2015

F. No. 03/L&O/RO/JMI/2015.—This is to notify for the information of all concerned that the President of

India in his capacity as the Visitor of Jamia Millia Islamia has been pleased to accord his assent for amendment/addition

to the existing Statute 37 of JMI Act, 1988 relating to the removal of a teacher or a member of the academic staff, as

conveyed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Deptt. of Higher Education vide their letter No.F.6-9/2012-

Desk-U dated 25^th June, 2015.

The amended Statute 37 as approved would now be read as shown in the Annexure.

as approved vide MHRD No.F.6-9/2012-Desk-U dated June 25, 2015

The removal of a teacher or a member of the

academic staff shall require a two-thirds majority of

the members of the Majlis-i-Muntazimah (Executive

Council) present and voting.

The removal of a teacher or a member of the

academic staff shall require a two-thirds majority

Provided that the teacher or the member of the

academic staff may prefer a review against the

penalty of removal from service, which may be

considered by the Executive Council.

The removal of a teacher or a member of the

academic staff shall take effect from the date on

which the order of removal is made:

Provided that where a teacher or a member of the

academic staff is under suspension at the time of his

removal, the removal shall take effect from the date

on which he was placed under suspension.

The removal of a teacher or a member of the

academic staff shall take effect from the date on

which the order of removal is made.
