सा.का.जन. 17(अ).—केन्द रीय सरकार, भारतीय डाकघर अजधजनयम, 1898 (1898 का 6) की धारा 74 के साथ
पठित धारा 21 तथा धारा 32 द्वारा प्रदत्त िजियों का प्रयोग करते हुए, भारतीय डाकघर जनयम, 1933 का और संिोधन
करने के जलए जनम्नजलजखत जनयम बनाती है, अथाात् :-
1.
(1) इन जनयमों का संजिप् त नाम ‘भारतीय डाकघर (संिोधन) जनयम, 2023’ है।
(2) ये जनयम, राजपत्र में इनके प्रकािन की तारीख को प्रिृत्त होंगे।

भारतीय डाकघर जनयम, 1933 (जजसे इसके पश्चात् उि जनयम कहा गया है) के जनयम 74 के स्ट् थान पर
जनम्नजलजखत जनयम रखा जाएगा, अथाात् : -
“74.
डाक िुल्क तथा भुगतान की गई रजजस्ट् रीकरण कीस के अजतठर त, जहां भी लागू हो, जनयम 72 में
यथाउजल्लजखत दकसी भी डाक-िस्ट्तु के बीमा हेतु जनम्नजलजखत िुल्क प्रभाठरत दकया जाएगा :-
(i)
जबजनेस पासालों तथा स्ट्पीड पोस्ट्ट पासालों पर लगाया जाने िाला बीमा िुल्क :
200 रु. तक के बीजमत मूल्य के जलए
-
4 रुपए की दर से
200 रु. से अजधक के बीजमत मूल्य के जलए -
4 रुपए + 200 रु. से अजधक बीजमत मूल्य का 1.50%

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 10th January, 2023
G.S.R. 17(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 21 and section 32, read with section 74 of the
Indian Post Office Act, 1898 (6 of 1898), the Central Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend
the Indian Post Office Rules, 1933, namely:-
1. (1) These rules may be called the Indian Post Office (Amendment) Rules, 2023.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2.
In the Indian Post Office Rules, 1933, (hereinafter referred to as the said rules), for rule 74, the following
rule shall be substituted, namely: -
“74.
In addition to postage and the fee for registration paid, wherever applicable, the following fee shall
be charged for insurance of any of the postal articles as mentioned in rule 72, namely: -
(i) For insurance of Business Parcels and Speed Post parcels:
Insured value upto Rs. 200
-
Rs. 4
Insured value above Rs. 200
-
Rs.4 + 1.50%
of
insured
value
exceeding Rs. 200
(ii)
For insurance of postal articles other than Business Parcels and Speed Post Parcels:
When the value insured does not exceed Rs. 200/-
-
Rs. 10/-
For every additional Rs. 100/- or fraction thereof in excess of
Rs. 200/-
-
s. 6/-”.

In rule 102-I of the said rules, in clause (e), in the table, for the entries, the following shall be substituted,
namely: -
Amount to be recovered from addressee

“Up to Rs. 6,500/-
1.6% of the amount recovered
Above Rs. 6,500/-
Rs. 100/- + 1% of amount
exceeding Rs. 6,500/-”.
