RESOLUTION

No. 2-31/2000-Restg.—By virtue of the Memo-

randum of Understanding dated 30th. September

2000 entered into between the President of India,

[acting through the Secretary to the Government of

India, Ministry of Communications, Department of

Telecommunications (DoT)] and Bharat

Snnchflr

Nigam Limited, the business of providing teltccm

services in the country, maintaining the teleccm

network/running the teiecom factorios by the Depart-

ment of Telecom Services (DTS) and the Department

of Telecom Operations (DTO) [which were earlier

provided by Department of Telecommunications

(Do!)] has been transferred to the newly formed

company viz. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)

with effect from 1st October 2000.

2. All assets & liabilities (except certain assets

which will be retained by DoT required for the units

and offices under control of DoT) of the Depart-

ment of Telecom Services (DTS) and the Department

uf Telecom Operations (DTO) stand transferred to

BSNL w.c.f. the said date.

3. All the existing contracts, agreements and

MOUs entered mlo by Deparlmeni ofTelecommu-

mcrtitns, Department of Telecom Services and the

Department of Ttleccm Opaatioiis with \.rious

suppl.crs, contractors, vei.dus companies and indi-

notice or other document issued by the BSNL bearing

any reference to the Department of Telecom Services

or the Department of feleccm Operations shall.,

wherever the context so permits and allows, be read

to be a reference to the BSNL.

7. With effect from 1st Oet< her, 2000 all cheque/

t-'raftb/other instruments under which payment is to

be made in favour ol the Government rfIndia m

respect of monies owed to the Deptrtmjnt uf Tele-

com Services and/or the Department of Telecom

Operations shall, wherever the context so permits and

allows, be drawn in favour of'Bharat San char Nigani

Limited.
