NOTIFICATION

New Delhi, the 27th September 2001.

S.O.961(E),—Whereas, in exercise of the powers

conferred by Sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the Unlawful

Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (37 of 1967), the Central

Government have declared the "Students Islamic

Movement of India" as an unlawful association, vide the

notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of

Home Affairs number S.O.960(E) dated 27th September,

2001; published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part-

II Section 3, Sub-section (ii) of the same date;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred

by section 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act,

1967 (37 of 1967), the Central Government hereby directs

that all the powers which are exercisable by it under

sections, 7 and 8 of the said Act shall also be exercised by

the State Governments and the Union Territory

Administration in relation to the aforesaid unlawful

association.
