2. The functions of this Samiti will be to bring about

coordination in the work and programmes relating to the

development and propagation and progressive use of Hindi

for official purposes being implemented by the various

3. The Samiti will have the power to appoint Sub-

Committees and co-opt additional members, as may be

necessary, for assisting it in the discharge of its functions.

4. This Samiti will be treated as High Powered Committee

for the purposes of grant of TA/DA to its non-official

members for participation in its meetings.

5. The term of the Samiti will be three years from the date

of its reconstitution.

6. The Headquarter of the Samiti will be at New Delhi.

The term of Office of the above members will be

concurrent with the term of Board i.e. a period of two years

from 27th December 2013.

The Board will advise the Government in formulation of

the overall Development Programmes in Handicrafts Sector,

keeping in view socio-Economic cultural and artistic

perspective. In particular, the Board will advise the

Government regarding achivement of the following objectives :

1. To make handicraft sector an effective instrument of

reducing unemployment and under-employment and

achieving higher standard of living for Handicrafts artisans.

2. To advise the Government in the the formulation of the

overall development programmes in the handicrafts sector.

3. To preserve and promote the craft heritage of our

handicrafts.

4. To advise the Government in evolving strategies for

expanding markets for handicrafts in the country and abroad.

5. To take steps for effective coordination of the

development efforts of various Government agencies in the

sector.

6. To review the progress of development from time to

time.

This issues with the approval of the Hon’ble Minister of

Textiles.
