S.R.O. 21.—Whereas vide number S.R.O. 9/17/1/91, dated the 27th March, 2002, published in the Gazette of

India, Part-III, Section 4, dated the 13th April, 2002 and vide number S.R.O. 9/3/B/II, dated the 13th April, 2002, published

in the Gazette of India, Part-III, Section 4, dated the 18th May, 2002, the Central Government imposed toll tax on

vehicles and animals and octroi tax on all goods, commodities and animals, respectively, in Cantonment Board Chakrata.

And whereas as the Cantonment Board Chakrata vide public notice No. 9/3/B/III/31, dated the 23rd September,

2009 invited objections and suggestions to discontinue both octroi and toll tax in the Chakrata Cantonment.

And whereas the Central Government directed the Cantonment Board, Chakrata to discontinue only the toll tax and

the Cantonment Board, Chakrata vide public notice No. 9/3/B/III dated the 12th August, 2013, invited objections and

suggestions relating to discontinuance of toll tax within the limits of Chakrata Cantonment, as required by section 69 read

with section 319 of the Cantonments Act, 2006 (41 of 2006);

And whereas one objection was received from the businessman of Chakrata Cantonment requesting to discontinue

both the octroi and toll tax in Chakrata Cantonment;

And whereas the said Cantonment Board considered the said objection in its meeting held on the 31st October, 2013

and resolved to discontinue only the toll tax and continue the imposition of octroi tax, which is the only income for the

Cantonment Board and there is no substitute for loss of source of income, hence the Board rejected the objection.

Now, therefore, in exercise of powers conferred by section 66 read with section 71 of the Cantonments Act, 2006 (41

of 2006), the Cantonment Board, Chakrata, with the previous sanction of the Central Government, hereby rescinds the

notification number S.R.O. 9/17/1/91, dated the 27th March, 2002, published in the Gazette of India, Part III, Section 4, dated

the 13th April, 2002, with immediate effect except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such rescission.
