Functions

2.

The function of the Samiti will be to render advise in regard to the implementation of the provisions relating to

Official Language contained in the constitution, OL Act and Rules, and policy decisions of the Kendriya Hindi Samiti and

instructions issued by the Department of Official Language relating to Official Language and also in regard to the progressive

use of Hindi in the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.

Tenure

3 The tenure of the Samiti will be normally three years from the date of its reconstitution subject to the following:

(a)

a member, who is Member of Parliament, will cease to be a member of the Samiti as soon as he ceases to be

Member of Parliament;

(b)

ex- officio members of the Samiti shall continue as members so long as they hold the office by virtue of which

they are members of the Samiti;

(c)

a member nominated in a vacancy arising in the Samiti due to the death or resignation of any member shall hold

office for the residul term.

If a person is nominated as member in the middle of the term, he will hold office for the residual term of the

samiti.

Headquarters

4 The headquarters of the Samiti shall be at New Delhi.

Travelling and other allowances

5 The non- official members will be paid travelling and daily allowances for attending the meetings of the Samiti at the

rates fixed by the Government of India from time to time and as per instructions contained in the Department of Offical

Language, Ministry of Home Affars, Government of India, Office Memorandum No.II/20034/4/86-OL(A-2) dated 22^nd

January, 1987.

Ordered that a copy of this Resolution be sent to all State Governments, Union Territories Administrations, President’s

Secretariat, Vice President’s Secretariat, Cabinet Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Lok

Sabha Secretariat, Rajya Sabha Secretariat, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Accountant General, Central Revenues

and All Ministries/ Departments of Government of India.

It is also ordered that a copy of this Resolution be published in the Gazette of India for general information.
