FUNCTIONS

The functions of the Samiti will be to render advice with regard to the implementation of the provisions relating to

Official Language contained in the constitution, Official Languages Act and Rules, and policy decisions of the Kendriya

Hindi Samiti and instructions issued by Ministry of Home Affairs (Department of Official Language) relating to official

language and also in regard to the progressive use of Hindi in the Ministry.

III

TENURE

1.

The tenure of the Samiti will be ordinarily for 3 years from the date of its constitution.

2.

If a person is nominated as Member in the middle of the term, he will hold the office for the residual term of

the Samiti.

3.

In special circumstances, the tenure of the Samiti may be curtailed or enhanced by the Ministry.

4.

Member of Parliament who are the members of Committee shall cease to be members as soon as they cease to

be Member of Parliament.

5.

Ex-officio members of the Samiti shall continue as members as long as they hold office by virtue of which

they are members of the Samiti.

IV

GENERAL

The Headquarters of the Samiti shall be at New Delhi, but if considered necessary it may hold its meetings at any

other place also.

V

T.A. AND OTHER ALLOWANCES

(a)

The Members of Parliament nominated in the Samiti, will be paid Travelling Allowance/Daily Allowance as per

the provisions in the “Members of Parliament (Salary, Allowance & Pension) Act, 1954” and amendments issued

from time to time and rules made thereunder vide Department of Official Language Office Memorandum No.

II/20034/04/2005-O.L (Policy-2), dated 03 February, 2006 for participating in meetings of the Samiti.

(b)

Travelling Allowance/Daily Allowance to other non-official members of the Samiti, will be paid as per the

guidelines contained in the Department of Official Language O.M. No.II/22034/04/86-OL(A-2) dated 22.1.1987

keeping in view the high level status of the Committee and in accordance with the prescribed rates and rules as

amended from time to time by the Government of India.

Ordered that a copy of this Resolution be communicated to all the members of the Hindi Salahkar Samiti of the

Ministry of Steel, all State Governments and Union Territory Administrations, President Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office,

Functions of the Committee

The functions of the Committee will be to advise the concerned Departments in matters relating to the provisions of

the Official Languages enshrined in the Constitution, decisions of Kendriya Hindi Samiti and the instructions issued by the

Department of the Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs for the progressive use of Hindi in official work.

III

Tenure

The tenure of members of the committee will ordinarily be three years from the date of it’s composition, provided

that:-

(A)

A member of Parliament nominated to the Committee shall cease to be a member of the Committee as soon as

he ceases to be a member of Parliament,

(B)

Any mid – term vacancy shall be filled up by the concerned member’s successor in office, who shall be a

member of the Committee for the remaining term of three years.

(C)

In special circumstances the tenure of the Committee may be prolonged/ cut short by the Ministry of Science

and Technology and Ministry of Earth Sciences.

IV

General

The Headquarters of the Committee shall be at New Delhi but it may hold it’s meetings at any other place also, if so

required.

V

Travelling and other allowances

The non – official members of the Committee will be paid travelling and daily allowances for attending the meeting

of the Committee as per the guidelines contained in O.M. No. 11/20034/4/86 – O.L. (A-2) dated 22^nd January, 1987 of

Department of Official Language and in accordance with the prescribed rates and rules as amended from time to time by the

Government of India.
