New Delhi, the 30th July, 2018

RESOLUTION

No. E-11011/1/2018-Hindi.—In supersession of this Ministry’s earlier Resolution Number E-11011/4/2011-Hindi

dated 11 April, 2011 and O.M. No. E-11011/8/2013-Hindi dated 17.10.2016, Ministry of Shipping, Government of India has

decided revise award scheme for the books written originally in Hindi and translated into Hindi from other languages on the

subjects relating to Indian Ports and Shipping as per details given below:

Name of the Scheme

This Scheme will be called "Award Scheme for the books written originally in

Hindi and translated into Hindi from other languages on the subjects relating to

Indian Ports and Shipping."

Objective

The Scheme aims at promoting original book writing in Hindi and translation of books

into Hindi from other languages on the subjects relating to Indian Ports and Shipping.

Amount of awards

The following awards will be given under the scheme :

(a) For books written originally in Hindi:

First Prize : Rs. 1,00,000/-

Second Prize : Rs. 70,000/-

Third Prize : Rs. 50,000/-

(b) For translated books.

First Prize : Rs. 50,000/-

Second Prize : Rs. 40,000/-

Third Prize : Rs. 30,000/-

Salient Features

1. The Scheme will be operated by the Ministry of Shipping.

2. The prizes will be awarded under the scheme for every financial Year.

Eligibility for

participation

in the Scheme

1. All Indian citizens can participate in this Scheme.

2. Only published book will be considered under this Scheme. Book in manuscript

form will not be accepted.

3. The book must have been published during the last five financial years from the date

of issue of this Scheme.

4. The book must contain minimum 100 pages.

5. The author whose book has been selected for award under this scheme, will be

entitled to retain his copyright on the book.

6. The book submitted earlier under the scheme, will not be accepted.

7. The book once awarded under any other Scheme of the Govt. of India or a State

Govt. or Administration of a U.T. shall not be accepted under this Scheme.

8. The book should be an analytical review on the subject it deals with. Books

written in the form of thesis of Ph.D, Poem, Novel, Story, Play, etc. or textbook

will not be eligible.

9. The author shall be responsible for the facts and data given in the book and must

give references, wherever possible as a proof.

General terms and

conditions

1. In case, a book selected for the award, has more than one author, award money shall

be divided equally among them.

2. If during any year, a book is not found suitable for the award, the Award Committee

3. No correspondence will be entertained regarding awarding of prize(s) or the

procedure regarding the selection of books for the award.

4. Three copies of the book will have to be sent along with the entry form. The books

will not be returned.

Evaluation Committee

1. Three experts will be nominated for evaluation of the books.

2. Each book will be evaluated by three experts and they will submit their review to

the ministry on the respective book.

3. Books will be submitted to the Awards Committee along with the review of the

experts.

Honorarium

Each evaluator will be given an honorarium of Rs 5000/- for the evaluation

work.(Even if entries are more than one)

Award Committee

1. Secretary, Shipping will be the Chairman of the Award Committee.

2. Officers of the rank of Joint Secretary/Director will be the members of this

committee and Joint Director (OL) will be the Member Secretary.

3. If any member of the Evaluation Committee/Award Committee wishes to

participate in this Award Scheme, he/she will not be the member of Evaluation

Committee/Award Committee for that year.

4. Decision of the Award Committee will be final.

Right to modify

the Scheme

The Ministry of Shipping shall have the right to modify this Scheme.

11.

General

1. After the declaration of awards, winners will be awarded in a function/meeting of

Hindi Salahkar Samiti organised by the Ministry of Shipping.

2. Awardees coming from places other than the place fixed for distribution of awards

will get 2^nd A.C. rail fare for to and fro and daily allowance for stay as per rules of

the Govt. of India. Arrangement for lodging to be done at own expenses.
