ᮧशि᭭त उ᭨लेख
समादेशक (क.᮰े.) अनुराग शुला (0853-एम) ने िदनांक 31 िदसंबर, 2009 को भारतीय तटरᭃक मᱶ सेवा आरंभ की।
2. भारतीय तटरᭃक पोत अिरजंय ने िदनांक 26 िदसंबर, 2022 को आईएमबीएल मᱶ 300 करोड़ ᱧपए के हिथयार, गोला-बाᱨद और
िनिष सामᮕी ले जा रही पािक᭭तानी नौका अल-सोहली को 10 चालक दल सद᭭यᲂ के साथ पकड़ा। कमान अिधकारी के ᱨप मᱶ, उ᭠हᲂने कुशल
योजना और अनुकरणीय साहस के मा᭟यम से िनधाᭅिरत िमशन को पूरा करने के िलए आधी रात मᱶ अंधेरे की आड़ मᱶ असंभव िमशन को सफल
बनाने के िलए जोिखम उठाया।
3. िदनांक 26 िदसंबर, 2022 को लगभग 0300 बजे, पोत ने का᭨पिनक आईएमबीएल पर ग᭫त के दौरान रडार पर एक िब᭠दु देखा।
पोत ने तुरंत कारᭅवाई की और िब᭠दु की ओर ᱧख िकया। पड़ोसी रा᳦ की शᮢुता और अ᭄ात ᱨप से ᮧा᳙ िब᭠दु को ᭟यान मᱶ रखते ᱟए, पोत अंधेरे
मᱶ आगे बढ़ा और सावधानी बरतते ᱟए अपनी गित कम कर दी। 7 केबल की नजदीकी रᱶज पर पᱟंचकर, पोतने गित बढ़ा दी और वीएचएफ/
एलआरएडी पर संिदध नौका को चुनौती दी। नौका की ओर से कोई ᮧितिᮓया ᮧा᳙ नहᱭ ᱟई और वह चालाकी से भागने की कोिशश करती रही।
पोत ने 51 एमएम मोटाᭅर/िस नल᭢लेयर के मा᭟यम से रोशनी की। अ᭒छी तरह से पहचान होने पर, यह पाया गया िक यह पािक᭭तानी माि᭜᭭यकी
नौका है और पोत ने नौका पर चेतावनी शॉट फायर करके पािक᭭तानी माि᭜᭭यकी नौका को रोकने का ᮧयास िकया। पािक᭭तानी माि᭜᭭यकी नौका
अल-सोिहली का 40 िमनट के लंबे समय तक पीछा करने के बाद 21 िडᮕी 35.00 एन 066 िडᮕी 34.00 ई (21 ᳇ार का लाईट 142 एनएम)
मᱶ जबरन रोका गया।
4. उसी समय, पोत की बोिडᲈग टीम नौका पर चढ़ गई और पूरी तरह से तलाशी करने के बाद, संिदध िच᭠हᲂ के साथ असमान भार
एवं ताजा रंगे ᱟए 03 एलपीजी िसिलंडर िमले। संिदध िसलᱶडरᲂ को पोत पर लाया गया और सुरᭃा जांच के दौरान गैस रेगुलेटरᲂ को हटा िदया
गया। बाद मᱶ, जांच के िलए िसलᱶडरᲂ को ᮕाइंडर से खोला गया, िजसमᱶ िविभ᳖ हिथयार एवं गोला-बाᱨद अथाᭅत छह 9 एमएम की िप᭭तौल
(िनिमᭅत: िपएतरोबेरेटा), 120 लाइव राउंड के साथ 12 मैगजीन बरामद ᱟई। इसके अलावा, 300 करोड़ ᱧपए की 40 िकᮕा. िनिष सामᮕी
(हेरोइन) भी बरामद की गई।
5. अपनी ᳞िᲦगत सुरᭃा की परवाह िकए िबना अफसर ᳇ारा ᮧितकूल एवं तूफानी समुᮤी पिरि᭭थितयᲂ मᱶ, दशाᭅए गए अनुकरणीय
साहस, ᮧितबता और उ᭜कृ᳥ ᳞ावसाियकता का ᮧदशᭅन िकया गया है, जो सेवा की बेहतरीन परंपराᲐ के अनुᱨप है।

सुलतान िसंह, ᮧधान नािवक (पी), 12405-टी ने 13 फरवरी, 2014 को भारतीय तटरᭃक मᱶ सेवा आरंभ की।
2. िदनांक 11 जुलाई 2022, को तटरᭃक 822 को भारतीय तटरᭃक वायु ᭭टेशन, दमन ᳇ारा वलसाड़ िजले के भड़ेली गांव मᱶ अचानक
आई बाढ़ मᱶ फंसे लोगᲂ को बचाने का कायᭅ सᲅपा गया था। सुलतान िसंह, ᮧधान नािवक (पी), ने ᭭वे᭒छा से गोताखोर के ᱨप मᱶ कायᭅ िकया और
खोज एवं बचाव उपकरणᲂ को तैयार करने की िज᭥मेदारी संभाली तथा ᭭वयं को योजना मᱶ शािमल िकया।
3. िवमान मौके पर पᱟंच गया, ि᭭थित अ᭜यंत गंभीर थी। लोग जल मᲨघरᲂ की छतᲂ से सहायता के िलए पुकार रहे थे। सुलतान को
िविभ᳖ ᭭थानᲂ पर जजᭅर ढांचᲂ मᱶ फंसे लोगᲂ को बचाने के िलए उतारा गया। ᮧितकूल मौसम और बाधाᲐ को ᭟यान मᱶ रखते ᱟए, उ᭠हᲂने सुरᭃा
बचाव अिभयान शुᱨ करने से पहले जीिवत बचे लोगᲂ को जानकारी दी और उ᭠हᱶ मानिसक ᱨप से तैयार िकया। एक घटना मᱶ, जल म न घर की
टीन से बनी छत ढ़ह गई और सभी जीिवत बचे लोग पानी मᱶ िगर गए। अपनी ᳞िᲦगत सुरᭃा की परवाह िकए िबना सुलतान िसंह तैर कर के
जीिवत बचे लोगᲂ के पास पᱟंचे और उ᭠हᱶ सुरिᭃत िनकालने मᱶ सहायता की। तेज हवाᲐ के ᮧवाह के बीच, उ᭠हᲂने एक र᭭सी बांधी और सभी
जीिवत बचे लोगᲂ को िनकासी ᭭थल तक ले गए और उ᭠हᱶ बचाव पᲵी पहनाई, िजससे 16 लोगᲂ की जान बच पाई।
4. 16 बᱟमू᭨य जीवन को बचाने मᱶ, योजना बनाने से लेकर बचाव िमशन तक अद᭥य साहस एवं िज᭥मेदारी की भावना का ᮧदᭅशन
िकया गया।

2. The President’s Tatrakshak Medal for Distinguished Service award is made under Rule-4(iv) of the rules governing
grant of the President’s Tatrakshak Medal for Distinguished Service i.e President’s Secretariat Notification No. 50-Pres/89
dated 7th June, 1989.

No. 81-Pres/2023—The President is pleased to award the Tatrakshak Medal for Gallantry to Commandant (JG)
Anurag Shukla (0853-M) on the occasion of the Independence Day, 2023.
CITATION
Commandant (JG) Anurag Shukla (0853-M) joined the Indian Coast Guard on 31 December 2009.
2. Indian Coast Guard Ship Arinjay apprehended Pakistani Boat AL-Sohili along with 10 crew, carrying arms,
ammunition and contraband worth INR 300 Cr at IMBL on 26 Dec 2022. The officer as Commanding Officer took calculated
risk, through meticulous planning and exemplary courage strived to achieve the impossible, under the dark cover of the
midnight operation to accomplish the assigned mission.
3. At about 0300 hrs on 26 Dec 2022, the ship whilst patrolling at notional IMBL observed a solitary contact on radar.
The ship took immediate action and shaped her course towards the contact. Considering animosity of the neighboring nation
and the unknown solitary contact, the ship followed darkened regime and reduced speed to maintain element of surprise. While
approaching at a close range of 7Cable, the ship increased speed and challenge the contact on VHF/LRAD. The contact did not
respond and resorted to evasive manoeuvring. The ship used illumination through 51mm motor/signal flare. On positive
identification, it was observed to be Pakistani fishing boat, and the ship took measures to stop the Pakistani fishing Boat by
firing warning shots across the bows. The Pakistani fishing Boat 'AL-SOHILI' was forced to stop, post protracted hot pursuit
of 40 minutes, in position 21Deg 35.00 N 066 Deg 34.00 E (251 Dwarka light 142 NM).
4. Immediately Ship's boarding team boarded the boat and after thorough rummaging 03 freshly painted LPG cylinders
with unequal heavy weight with dubious markings were found. The suspicious cylinders brought onboard and on examination
gas regulators were removed for safety precautionary measures. Later, for inspection the cylinders were slit opened by grinder
and various arms and ammunition viz. Six 9MM pistols (Make: Pietro Beretta), 12 magazine along with 120 live rounds were
found. In addition, 40 KG of contraband (Heroin) worth Indian Rupees 300 Cr was also recovered.
5. The inspiring leadership, meticulous planning and outstanding professionalism exhibited by the officer with utter
disregard to his personal safety in sensitive environment and tiring sea conditions marks the highest traditions of service.
6. Commandant (JG) Anurag Shukla (0853-M) has accredited himself well and therefore he is awarded the Tatrakshak
Medal (Gallantry).
7. The Tatrakshak Medal (Gallantry) award is made under Rule 11(i) of the rules governing grant of Tatrakshak
Medal and consequently carry with them the special allowance admissible under Rule 13 in respect of Coast Guard personnel
who have received the Tatrakshak Medal (Gallantry) award i.e President’s Secretariat Notification No. 50-Pres/89
dated 7th June, 1989.

No. 82-Pres/2023—The President is pleased to award the Tatrakshak Medal for Gallantry to Sultan Singh, Pradhan
Navik (P), 12405-T on the occasion of the Independence Day, 2023.
CITATION
Sultan Singh, Pradhan Navik (P), 12405-T joined the Indian Coast Guard on 13 February 2014.
2. On 11 Jul 2022, CG 822 was tasked to carry out rescue of stranded people from Bhadeli Village of Valsad district
view flash floods by Indian Coast Guard Air Station Daman. Sultan Singh, P/Nvk (P), volunteered as Free Diver and assumed
responsibility of preparing SAR equipment and associated himself with planning.

3. The aircraft reached area and situation was observed to be critical. People were desperately calling for help from
rooftop of submerged houses. Sultan was lowered amidst the stranded people over dilapidated structures at different locations.
Considering the perilous weather and obstructions he briefed and prepared survivors mentally prior initiating safe rescue. In
one incident, the tin shed roof of a submerged house collapsed and all the survivors fell into water. Disregarding his personal
safety, Sultan swam to the survivors and assisted them to safety. Under strong flow of water and winds, he tied a rope and
successively took all the survivors to the evacuation point and assisted them in wearing rescue strop, thus ensured safe rescue
of 16 lives.
4. For unmatched courage and a sense of responsibility right from the planning stage for rescue mission which ensured
saving of 16 precious lives.
5. Sultan Singh, Pradhan Navik (P), 12405-T has accredited himself well and therefore he is awarded the Tatrakshak
Medal (Gallantry).
6. The Tatrakshak Medal (Gallantry) award is made under Rule 11(i) of the rules governing grant of Tatrakshak
Medal and consequently carry with them the special allowance admissible under Rule 13 in respect of Coast Guard personnel
who have received the Tatrakshak Medal (Gallantry) award i.e President’s Secretariat Notification No. 50-Pres/89
dated 7th June, 1989.
