The State Gove,rnment, hereby, under sub-section (4) of Section 4 of the said Act, delegates the powers

of appointing Census Officer conferred upon it by sub-section (2) of the said Section to the autliorities specified

in column (2) of the Schedule as shown above within the areas specified in column (4) thereof.

The State Govemment, hereby, under sub-section (3) of Section 4 of the said Act, authorizes the

authorities specified in column (2) of the Schedule as shown above to sign declarations regarding the

appointment of census officers within the areas specified in column (4) thereof.

As per the provisions of Section ll of the Census Act, 1948 (No. 37 of 1948) any Census Officer or

any person lawfully required to give assistance towards the taking of census and who refuses to perform any

duty allotted to him/trer under this Act or any rule made thereunder or any person who hinders or obstructs

another person in performing any such duty, shall be punishable with fine up to one thousand rupees and in case

of a conviction shall also be punishable with imprisonment which may extend up to three years.
