NOTIFICATION

No. F 04-03/2022/23.⸺ In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 30 of the

Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 19 69 (No. 18 of 1969), the State Government, with

the approval of the Central Government, hereby, makes the following further amendment

in the Chhattisgarh Registration of Births and Deaths Rules, 2001, namely: -

AMENDMENT

In the said rules,-

For sub-rule (1) of rule 10, the following sub -rule shall be substituted, namely: -

“(1) Where the birth of a child is registered without a name, the parent or guardian

of such child shall, within twelve months from the date of registration of the birth of the

child, either orally or in writing, communicate to the Registrar the name of the child:

Provided that :-

(i) in a case where the registration was made before the date of

commencement of the Chhattisgarh Registration of Births and Deaths

Rules, 2001, the notice shall be given upto further period of five years

from the date of publication of this notification, or

(ii)

in a case where the registration has been made on or after the date of

commencement of the Chhattisgarh Registration of Births and Deaths

Rules, 2001, this notice shall be given before the expiry of a period of

fifteen years from the date of such registration or upto further period of

five years of the date of publication of this notification, or

(iii)

in a case where the registration is made on or after the c ommencement

of the Chhattisgarh Registration of Births and Deaths Rules, 2001 and

the notice is given before the expiry of a period of fifteen years from

the date of such registration, subject to the provisions of sub -section

(4) of Section 23, the Registrar may –

(a)

if the register is in his possession, shall forthwith enter the name

in the relevant column of the register of births on payment of a

late fee of rupees five,

(b)

if the register is not in his possession, and if the information is

given orally, prepare a report containing the necessary particulars,

and if the information is given in writing, make the necessary

entry on payment of a late fee of rupees five and forward it to the

District Registrar.”
