THE CHHATTISGARH RAJIM MAGHI PUNNI MELA

(AMENDMENT) ACT, 2024.

An Act further to amend the Chhattisgarh Rajim Maghi Punni Mela Act, 2006 (No.

22 of 2006).

Be it enacted by the Chhattisgarh Legislature in the Seventy-Fifth Year of the Republic

of India, as follows :-

1.

(1)

This Act may be called the Chhattisgarh Rajim Maghi Punni Mela

(Amendment) Act, 2024.

(2)

It shall extend to such area as may be notified in the Official Gazette, by the

State Government, as the Rajim Maghi Punni Mela Area, from time to time.

(3)

It shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

In the preamble of the Chhattisgarh Rajim Maghi Punni Mela Act, 2006 (No. 22 of 2006)

(hereinafter referred to as the Principal Act), for the words “Maghi Punni Mela”, the

words “Kumbh (Kalp) Mela” shall be substituted.

3.

In sub-section (1) of Section 1 of the Principal Act, for the short title “the Chhattisgarh

Rajim Maghi Punni Mela Act, 2006”, the short title “the Chhattisgarh Rajim Kumbh

(Kalp) Mela Act, 2006” shall be substituted.

4.

For clause (7) of Section 2 of the Principal Act, the f ollowing shall be substituted,

namely:-

“(7) “Mela” means Kumbh (Kalp) Mela at Rajim held every year.”

5.

In the Principal Act, for the words “Maghi Punni Mela” wherever they occur, the words

“Kumbha (Kalp) Mela” shall be substituted.
