NOTIFICATION

No. GENS-1105/99/2025-HOME SECTION. - Whereas the Central Government, in exercise of the

powers conferred by Section 3 and Section 17A of the Census Act, 1948 (No. 37 of 1948), read with Rule 6A

and Rule 6D of the Census Rules, 1990, has notified vide its Notification No. S.O. 99(E), dated 7th January

2026 that the houselisting operation of the Census of India 2027 shall take place between 1"April, 2026 and

30th September, 2026 in all States and Union Territories in India during the period of thirty days specified by

each State and Union Territory. There shall also be an option for self-enumeration which shall be conducted in

fifteen days' time period just before the start of house to house houselisting operation of thirty days.

Therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule (iii) of Rule 8 of the Census Rules, 1990,

made under the provisions of the Census Act, 1948 (37 of 1948), the State Government, has decided that the

work of the first phase of Census of India 2027, ie., the House listing and Housing Census, in the State shall be

conducted from Ist May, 2026 to 30th May, 2026. The option for self-enumeration shall be operational from

16th April, 2026 to 30th April, 2026.
