New Delhi, the 21st July 1977
S.O. 578(E).—In pursuance of the provisions of section 12 of the Presidential and Vice-
Presidential Elections Act, 1952 (31 of 1952), the following declaration containing the name of the
person elected to the office of President of India is published for general information •—
DECLARATION
"In pursuance of the provisions contained in clause (a) of section 8 of the Presidential and
Vice-Presidential Elections Act, 1952 (31 of 1952), I, Avtar Singh Rikhy, the Returning Officer
for the Presidential Election, hereby declare that Shri Neelam Sanjiva Reddy, Nagebihar,
Lakshmtnagar, Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh), being the only candidate who has been validly
nominated and who has not withdrawn his candidature in the manner and within the time speci-
fied for the purpose, has been duly elected to the office of the President of India.
