SUBJECT: Import of Viscose staple fibre under free licens-

ing scheme : Import Policy for

April

1977—

March 1978.

No. IPC/3/6/77.—Attention is invited to the Ministry of

Commerce, Public Notice No. S4-ITC(PN)/77, dated

the

6th October, 1977, wherein eligible importers

were advised

to indicate the likely source or sources of import of

the

items mentioned in Appendix 2 of the Import Trade Control

Policy Book (Volume I) for April 1977—March 1978, ex-

cept for permissible spare parts, to enable

the licensing

authorities to grant licences

under the respective relevant

credit, if available.

2. On a review of the situation, it has been decided that

nil licences for the import of viscose

staple fibre covered

by S. No. 3 in Appendix 2 of the Import Trade Control

Policy Book (Volume 1) for April 1977—March 1978, shall

be issued against the UK/India Maintenance Grant, 1977,

only.

3. In respect of import licences already issued for import

of viscose staple fibre against which irrevocable

letters

credit have not been opened, on or before the date of issue

of this Public Notice, but the import licences are otherwise

valid for import, the licensees shall approach the licensing

authorities concerned, for suitable amendment to the import

licence, to make the

licence valid for imports under

ihc

UK/India Maintenance Grant, 1977 only.

4. In case where applications have already been mado for

viscose staple fibre, whether or not indicating the source of

import,

import licences

shall

be granted

only

under

UK/India Maintenance Grant, 1977.

5. AH licences

issued for

viscose staple fibre under

UK/India Maintenance Giant will be

governed by

the

conditions notified vide Ministry of Commerce, Public Nolice

No, 44-TTC(PN)/77 dated the 7lh July, 1977.
