G.S.R. 36(E) —Whereas certain draft rules further to amend

the Prevention of Food Adulteration Rules, 1955 were published

as required by sub-section (1) of section 23 of the Prevention of

Food Adulteration Act, 1954 (37 of 1954) at pages 45-46 of the

Gazette of India, Part II, Section 3, sub-section (1) under the

notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of

Health and Family Welfare (Department of Health) No G.S R.

23(E) dated 9th January, 1978 inviting objections oi suggestion,

1978 ;

AND whereas no objections or suggestions have been received

from the public on the said draft notification ;

NOW, therefore, In exercise of the powers conferred hy sub-

section (1) of section 23 of the said Act, the Central Government

hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Preven-

tion of Food Adulteration Rules, 1955, namely ;

RULES

1. (i) These j ulcs may he called the Pievenlion ol' food

Adulteration (First Amendment) Rules, 1978.

(n) They shall LOHIC mlo force on the dale of publication

in the Official Gazette

2. In Lhe pjcvention or' Food Adulteration Rules, 1955, in rule

44, in the third proviso, for the words, "for a. period of 3 months"

the words, figures and Icttcis, "uplo and including the 30th day

of April, 1978" shall be substituted.
