New Delhi, the 29th April, 1981

CENTRAL EXCISES

G.S.R. 3HHE).-—In exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the

Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (I of 1944),

the Central Government

hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Central Excise Rules,

1944, namely :•—

1. (1) These rules may be called the Central Excise (14th Amendment)

Rules, 1981.

(2) They shall come into force on the date if their publication in the

Official Gazette.

2. For clause (JiXB) of rule 2 of the Central Excise Rules. 1944.

the

followhjB shall be substituted, namely:—•

"(B) in relation to salt, the Salt Commissioner,

and includes an Additional Collector and any officer specially autho-

rised under rule 4 or 5 to exercise throughout any State or any

specified area therein all or any of the powers of u Collector

under these rules;".
