NOTIFICATIONS

No. 198/81-CENTRAL EXCISES

G.S.R. 648(E).—In exercise of the powers

conferred

sectjon 37 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of

1944), the Central Government hereby makes the following

rules

further to amend the Central

Excise

Rules, 1944,

riamcly :—

1. (1) These rules may be called the- Central Excise (23rd

Amendment) Rules, 1981.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publi-

cation in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Central Excise Rules, 1944,—

(a) in rules 64 t 0 72 (both inclusive), 74, 76, 78, 79,

80, 82, 98, 99 and 231, for the word "banderol",

wherever it occurs, the words

"Central

Excise

stamp" shall be substituted, and such other conse-

quential amendments as the rules of firammar may

require shall also be made;

(b) in rule 76, for the words "Unbanderolled Matches'¹,

the worda "Matches Not Affixed with Central F\-

cise Stamp" shall be substituted;

"unbanderolled matches¹', the words "matches not

affixed with Central Excise stamp" shul] be substi-

tuted;

(d) in rule 79, for words "Unbanderolled matches", the

words "Matches not uffixed with Central

Excise

stamp" shall be substituted;

(e) in rule 98, in the heading, for words "Unbanderolled

and unlabelled Roods", the words "Goods

not

affixed with Central Excise stamp and unlabelled

goods" shall be substituted;

(f) in Apoendii I,—•

(i) under the heading "(1)

List of Central

Excise

Forms", in Central Excise Series 22, 22-A. 23,

40, 72, 73 and 83, for the word "banderols", the

words "Central Excise stamps" shall be substitu-

ted;

fii) under the heading "(2) Specimen Forms" in Cen-

tral Excise Series 22, 22-A, 23, 37, 40, 41, 72,

73 and 83, for the word "banderols", wherever it

occurs, the words "Central Excise stamps"

shall

be substituted, and such

other

consequential

amendments as the rules of Rrammflx may re-

quire shall also be made.

G.S.R. 649(E).—In. exercise of the powers conferred by sub

rule (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, the Central

Government hereby directs that each of the notifications of the

Government of India in the Ministry of Finance(Departmcnt of

Revenue), specified in column (2) of the Tablo hereto annexed

shall' be further amended, in the manner specified in the corres-

ponding entry in column (3) of the said Table.
