G.S.R. T71(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-

ruh (1) of rule 8 of the Central Excise Rules/1944, tho Central

Government hereby exempts tyres of the description specified in

column (3) of the Table hereto annexed and falling under tho

sub-item, spocified in tho corresponding entry in column (2) of

the said Table of Item No. 16 of tie Fi rst Schedule to tho Central

Excise and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), from so much of the duty

of excisi leviable thereon under the said Act at the rate

specified in the said First Schedule, as is in excess of the amount

cafculated at the rate specified In the corresponding entry In

column (4) thereof.

Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) No. 66/79-Cea-

tral Excises* dated the 1st March, 1979, the Central Government

hereby exempts goods of the description specified in column (2)

of the Table hereto annexed and fallint .under sub-item (1) of

item No. 29A of the First Schedule to the Central Excise) and

Salt Act, 1944 (t of 1944), from so much of the duty of exctoo

leviable thereon under the said Act at the rate specified in tha

conditioning appliances and machinery, all sorts falling mder

sub-item (3) of Item No. 29A of th0 First Schedule to the Central

Excisosand Salt Act, 1944(1 of 1944)^ read with the notification

of the Government of ndia in the Ministry of Finance (Depart-

ment of Revenue) No. 80/62-Contral Excises, dated the 24th

April, 1962, from so such of the duty r>f excise leviable thereon

under the aftid Act at the ruto sepcified in the said First Schedule,

as is io excess of the amount calculated at the rate of eighty per

cent ad valorem.

2, This notification shall be in force upto and inclusive of tko

29th day of February, 1984.

G.S.R 774(E)—In exercise of the powers confrred by sub-

Government hereby exempts electric storage batteries, falling

undor sub-item (2) of Item No. 31 of the First Schedule to the

Central Excise* and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), from so much

of thq duty of excise leviable thereon under the jaid Act at the

rate specified in the said First Schedule, as it in excess of the

amount calculated at the rate of fifteen per cent ad valorem.

2. This notification shall bo in forco upto and Inclusive of

the 29th day of February, 1984.

Government hereby exempts domestic electrical appliances,

falling under Item No. 33C of the First Schedule to the Central

Excises and Salt Act, 1944 (1 of 1944), read with the notification

of the Government of India, in the Ministry of Finance (Depart-

ment of Revenue and Insurance) No. 33/69-Contral Excises,

dated the 1st Mirch, 1969, from so much of the duty of excise

leviable thereon under tho said Act at the rate specified in the

said First Schedule, as is in excess of the amount calculated at

th* rate of twenty per cent ad valorem.

2. This notification shall be in force upto and inclusive of

the 29th day of February 1984.
