NOTIFICATION

Delhi, the 10th October, 2020

F. No. DC/OPS/TPT/2020/75/57917.—The following draft of rules, further to amend Delhi Motor

Vehicles Rules,1993, which are proposed to be made in exercise of powers given under rule 81 of the Central Motor

Vehicles Rules, 1989 by Central Government vide notification dated 21st March 2017, G.S.R 271(E), clause 2(i)

published in gazette of Part II, section 3 (i), is hereby published as required by sub-section (1) of section 212 of the

said Act for information of all persons likely to be affected thereby and notice is hereby given that the said draft will

be taken into consideration after expiry of a period of three days from the date on which the copies of this

notification as published in the Gazette of Delhi are made available to the public.

Objections or suggestions in this behalf should be addressed to Secretary-cum-Commissioner (Transport),

Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, Transport Department, 5/9, Under Hill Road, Delhi-110054.

DRAFT RULES

Short

Commencement

(1) These rules may be called the Delhi Motor Vehicles

(Amendment……...) Rules, 2020.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their final

publication in the Delhi Gazette.

Insertion of new Rule 37A

(1)

In the Delhi Motor Vehicles Rules, 1993 after Rule 37,

following shall be inserted namely :-

Rule 37 A

(2) The Registration fee prescribed at Serial No.4 in the

Column 3 of the Table given in Rule 81 of Central Motor

[PART IV

DELHI GAZETTE : EXTRAORDINARY

Vehicles Rules, 1989 shall not be applicable on Battery

Operated Vehicles as defined in Central Motor Vehicles Rules,

1989.

(3) Notwithstanding anything contained in these rules, the

Commissioner may by order exempt a person or a class of

persons from the payment of additional fee for delay in transfer

of ownership, change of residence and delay in grant or renewal

of certificate of fitness for a motor vehicle as specified in the

table of fees in Rule 81 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules,

1989, at Serial No. 6, 7 and 11 respectively.
