The 14th March, 2019

No. Leg.21/2019.— The following Act of the Legislature of the State of Haryana received

the assent of the Governor of Haryana on the 8th March, 2019 and is hereby published for general

information:-

HARYANA ACT NO. 21 OF 2019

THE PUNJAB COURTS (HARYANA AMENDMENT) ACT, 2019

AN

ACT

further to amend the Punjab Courts Act, 1918, in its application to the State of Haryana.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Haryana in the Seventieth Year of the

Republic of India as follows:-

1.

This Act may be called the Punjab Courts (Haryana Amendment) Act, 2019.

Short title.

2.

In the Punjab Courts Act, 1918 (hereinafter called the principal Act), for the words, signs,

figures and brackets,-

“Civil Judge (Senior Division Cadre) at intermediary level:-

(i)

Senior Civil Judge;

(ii)

Upper Senior Judge;

(iii)

Superior Senior Judge; and

Civil Judge (Junior Division Cadre) at entry level—

(i)

Civil Judge;

(ii)

Civil Judge, Grade II;

(iii)

Civil Judge, Grade I; and

Civil Judges (Senior Division Cadre) at intermediary level—

(i)

Senior Civil Judges;

(ii)

Upper Senior Judges;

(iii)

Superior Senior Judges; and

Civil Judges (Junior Division Cadre) at entry level—

(i)

Civil Judges;

(ii)

Civil Judges, Grade II;

(iii)

Civil Judges, Grade I.”,

the words, signs and brackets “Civil Judge (Senior Division); Civil Judge (Junior

Division); Civil Judges (Senior Division); Civil Judges (Junior Division).” shall respectively be

substituted.

Amendment of

certain sections of

Punjab Act 6 of

1918.

3.

For section 18 of the principal Act, the following section shall be substituted, namely:-

“18. Classes of Courts.- Besides the Courts of Small Causes established under the

Provincial Small Cause Courts Act, 1887 and the Courts established under any enactment

for the time being in force, there shall be the following classes of Civil Courts, namely:-

1.

The Court of District Judge;

2.

The Court of Additional District Judge;

3.

The Court of Civil Judge (Senior Division);

4.

The Court of Civil Judge (Junior Division).”.

Substitution of

section 18 of

Punjab Act 6 of

1918.
