NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the powers conferred by the Section 3, 4, 9 read with section 355

of the Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964, the Town Panchayat area of Virajpet,

including Kuklur and Maggula village’ parts of Chembebellor Grama Panchayath, part

village of Ambatti of Bittangala Grama Panchayath, part village of Arji of Arji Grama

Panchayath, part village Betoli of Betoli Grama Panchayath of Kodagu District

mentioned in the Schedule “A” along with boundaries mentioned in Schedule “B” is

hereby proposed to be declared as the “Smaller Urban Area” of Virajpet and further

such area is specified as “Town Municipal Area” of Virajpet with effect from the

date of publishing this Notification in the Official Gazette by His Excellency, the

Governor of Karnataka having regard to:

i. The population of such area is not less than Twenty thousand and not

more than Fifty thousand; 21,058 (As per 2011 Census)

ii. The density of population in such area is not less than One thousand

Five hundred inhabitants to one square kilometer of area; 2,335

iii. The revenue generated for local administration form such area of tax

and non-tax sources in the year of last proceeding census is not less than

rupees Nine lakhs per annum or a sum calculated at the rate of rupees

Forty five per capita per annum, whichever is higher, Revenue Rs.889/-

per person

iv. The percentage of employment in non-agricultural activities is not less

than fifty per cent of the total employment; 70%

The Notification is hereby published for the information of the Public. All the

persons, who would like to file any objections/suggestions to this Notification, are

hereby required to submit the same with reasons in writing to the Director,

Directorate of Municipal Administration, 9^th Floor, V.V.Tower, Bengaluru within 30

days from publication of this Notification in the Official Gazette. Further, Notification

will be taken up for final consideration after the said 30 days period.

East: The present boundary of the Virajpet Town Panchayath is from Maggula Village

Sy.No.125, commencing from North point passing towards southern side Sy. Nos. 136,

135, 134, 139/1 and 147 passing all through these survey numbers and ends in the

South in Sy. No.148. Thereafter turning right side from South side Sy.No.148 towards

Western side passing through Sy.Nos. 143, 239, 242, 241, then passing through

Southern boundary in Sy.No.269, then passes through Southern boundary then reaches

the Eastern boundary in Sy.No.282. Thereafter by turning left side in Eastern boundary

in Sy.No.282 then passing towards Southern side passes through Sy.No.273 then

continues towards eastern side in Sy.No. 278 and reaches in the points where

Sy.No.278 and 274 joins. Thereafter turning towards eastern side passes on the

northern boundary in Sy.No.274 reaches the northern boundary in Sy.No.216.

Thereafter turning towards right side towards southern side passes and continues

through Sy.No.216 then reaches the Northern boundary in Sy.No.218. Then in the

boundary of Sy.No.218 towards southern side continuing then reaches the Northern

boundary. Then turns left enters Ambatti village, in Ambatti Village Sy.No.84/1 on

the northern boundary passes towards Eastern side and in Sy.No.84/1. Eastern

boundary turns towards right side then passes towards southern side then reaches

Southern end in Sy.No.84/1. Then turns towards left in Sy.No.84/2 northern boundary

eastern side continues and then uses the boundary of Sy.No.84/1 and then reaches the

eastern boundary of Sy.No.121. Then turns towards left on southern side continuing

reaches Sy.No.121 at Southern end.

West: Then turns towards left side in Sy.No.438, at Southern boundary facing West, it

reaches the western point in Sy.No.438. Then turns towards right side and through

northern boundary in Sy.No.69 passes on and on Sy.No.45/1 on the western side passes

on facing northern side then passes on Sy.No.73 on western boundary and reaches the

Southern boundary in Sy.No.230/2. Then turns towards left side passes on facing the

southern boundary in Sy.No.230/2 then passes on southern boundary in Sy.No.222 then

passes on southern side in Sy.No.221 then turns on right side then reaches the Southern

boundary of the Kottali village boundary. Then passes on facing northern side

continues then passes through the boundary of western boundary in Sy.No.103 of

Kottoli village then continues till the Western boundary in Sy.No.102 passing on then

turns towards left side the reaches the Kedamullore-Kukloor village boundary. Then

on the Southern point in Sy.No.238 of Kedamullore village, turns towards right side

Sy.No.40 then reaches the eastern bounded in Sy.No.41/1 then turns towards left passes
