NOTIFICATION

Whereas the Karnataka Lokayukta (Cadre, Recruitment and Conditions of Service of

the Officers and Employees) Rules, 1988 was published in Notification No.DPAR 62 SLU

2021, dated: 12.04.2022 in Part-IV-A of the Karnataka Gazette dated: 12.04.2022 inviting

objection and suggestions from persons likely to be affected thereby within fifteen days from

the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

And whereas, the said Gazette was made available to the public on 12^th April 2022.

And whereas, no objections and suggestion were received in this behalf.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 15

read with clause (c) of sub-section (2) of section 23 of the Karnataka Lokayukta Act, 1984

(Karnataka Act 4 of 1985), the Government of Karnataka hereby makes the following rules

further to amend The Karnataka Lokayukta (Cadre, Recruitment and Conditions of Service

of the Officers and Employees) Rules, 1988, namely:-

1. Short title and commencement.-(1) This Rules may be called the Karnataka Lokayukta

(Cadre, Recruitment and Conditions of Service of the Officers and Employees)

(Amendment) Rules, 2022.

(2) They shall come into force from the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. Amendment of Second Schedule.- In the Second Schedule to the Karnataka

Lokayukta (Cadre, Recruitment and Conditions of Service of the Officers and Employees)

Rules, 1988,-

Under the heading “POLICE WING”, for the category of posts of “Police Inspector”

and “Sub-Inspector of Police” and entries relating thereto, the following shall be

substituted, namely:-

i. One post by promotion from the

cadre of Sub-Inspector of Police.

Provided that, If no eligible person is

available

for

promotion,

then

by

deputation of an Inspector of Police from

Police Department.

ii.

Remaining sanctioned posts

by deputation of Police Inspector from

Police Department.

For Promotion:-

Must have put in a service of not

less than five years in the cadre

of Sub-Inspector of Police:

Provided that, if officers who

have put in a service not less

than five years are not available,

then officers who have put in a

service of not less than three

years may be considered for

promotion.

Sub-Inspector

By promotion from the cadre of Assistant

Sub-Inspector of Police.

If no suitable person is available for

promotion, then by deputation of a Sub-
