NOTIFICATION-V

Whereas the draft of the following rules further to amend the Karnataka Excise

(Regulation of Yield, Production and Wastage of Spirit, Beer, Wine or Liquors) Rules,

1998, was published as required by sub-section (1) of Section 71 of the Karnataka

Excise Act, 1965 (Karnataka Act 21 of 1966) in Notification No. FD 6 PES 2021,

dated: 07.04.2022 in Part–IVA of the Karnataka Gazette (Extraordinary) No.224

dated:07.04.2022 inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be

affected within thirty days from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.

And, whereas the said Gazette was made available to the public on 07.04.2022.

And, whereas no objections and suggestions were received in respect of the said

draft by the State Government.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 71 of the

Karnataka Excise Act 1965 (Karnataka Act 21 of 1966) the Government of Karnataka

hereby makes the following rules, namely:-

RULES

1. Title and commencement:- (1) These rules may be called the Karnataka

Excise (Regulation of Yield, Production and Wastage of Spirit, Beer, Wine or Liquors)

(Amendment) Rules, 2022.

(2) They shall come into force from the date of their final publication in the

Official Gazette.

2. Amendment of rule 2:- In the Karnataka Excise (Regulation of Yield,

Production and Wastage of Spirit, Beer, Wine or Liquors) Rules, 1998, (hereinafter

referred to as the ‘said rules’) in rule 2, in clause (c), for the word “Brewery”, the words

“Brewery, Craft Brewery” shall be substituted.

3. Amendment of rules 3 and 4:- In rules 3 and the 4 of the said rules, for

the words “Distillery/Brewery/Winery or Manufactory”, the words “Distillery/

Brewery/Craft brewery/Winery or Manufactory”, shall be substituted.

4. Amendment of rule 6:- In rule 6 of the said rules, for the words “Distillery,

Brewery, Winery or Manufactory”, the words “Distillery, Brewery, Craft brewery,

Winery or Manufactory”, shall be substituted.

5. Amendment of Schedule A:- In Schedule A, in Serial Number I, in item (a),

in 8, in (v), for the word “Microbreweries”, the words “Microbreweries and Craft

breweries”, and for the word “Microbrewery”, the words “Microbrewery/Craft

Brewery” shall be substituted.
