THE KARNATAKA BORDER AREA DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY

(AMENDMENT) BILL, 2022

(LA Bill No. 33 of 2022)

A Bill to amend the Karnataka Border Area Development Authority Act, 2010.

Whereas it is expedient to amend the Karnataka Border Area Development Authority

Act, 2010 (Karnataka Act 12 of 2010), for the purposes hereinafter appearing;

Be it enacted by the Karnataka State Legislature in the seventy third year of the

Republic of India, as follows:-

1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Karnataka

Border Area Development Authority (Amendment) Act, 2022.

(2) It shall come into force at once.

2. Insertion of new section 27.- In the Karnataka Border Area Development

Authority Act, 2010 (Karnataka Act 12 of 2010), after section 26, the following shall be

inserted, namely:-

"27. Power to amend the Schedule.- The State Government may by

notification in the official Gazette, add, alter or omit any of the entries specified in

the schedule appended to the Act"

STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS

It is considered necessary to amend the Karnataka Border Area Development

Authority Act, 2010 (Karnataka Act 12 of 2010) to give power to the State

Government to add or alter or omit any of the entries specified in the schedule

appended to the Act by notification in the Official Gazette.

Hence, the Bill.

There is no extra expenditure involved in the proposed Legislative measure.

26. Power of Authority to make regulations.- The Authority may subject to the provisions of this

Act and the rules made under section 26 and with the previous sanction of the State Government, by
