NOTIFICATION-I

Whereas the draft of the following rules further to amend the Karnataka

Excise (Sale of Indian & Foreign Liquors) Rules, 1968, was published as

required by sub-section (1) of Section 71 of the Karnataka Excise Act, 1965

(Karnataka Act 21 of 1966) in Notification-I No:FD 10 PES 2022,

dated:16.01.2023 in Part-IV A of the Karnataka Gazette (Extraordinary)

No.24 dated:16.01.2023 inviting objections and suggestions from all

persons likely to be affected within thirty days from the date of its

publication in the official Gazette.

And, whereas the said Gazette was made available to the public on

16th January 2023.

And, whereas objections and suggestions received in respect of the

said draft by the State Government have been considered.

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 71 of

the Karnataka Excise Act, 1965 (Karnataka Act 21 of 1966), the

Government of Karnataka hereby makes the following rules, namely:-

RULES

1. Title and commencement: - (1) These rules may be called the Karnataka

Excise (Sale of Indian & Foreign Liquors) (Amendment) Rules, 2024.

(2) They shall come into force from the date of their final publication in

the Official Gazette.

2. Amendment of Rule 5-A:- In the Karnataka Excise (Sale of Indian &

Foreign Liquors) Rules, 1968, in rule 5-A, after sub-rule (3), the following

shall be inserted, namely:-

“(4). Nothing in rule 12 regarding quota shall be applicable to

such discontinued licences revalidated and renewed in the event

of death of the licensee or the lessee on or after 01-01-2000”.
