THE KARNATAKA POLICE (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2024

(Received the assent of the Governor on the 06^th Day of March 2024)

An Act further to amend the Karnataka Police Act, 1963.

Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Karnataka Police Act, 1963

(Karnataka Act 4 of 1964), for the purpose hereinafter appearing:

Be it enacted by the Karnataka State Legislature in the Seventy fifth year of

the Republic of India as follows:-

1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the

Karnataka Police (Amendment) Act, 2024.

(2) It shall come into force at once.

2. Amendment of Section 20-F.- In section 20-F of the Karnataka Police

Act, 1963 (Karnataka Act 04 of 1964),-

(1) in sub-section (1), for the words “one year:” the words “two years:” shall

be substituted.

(2) In sub-section (2),-

(i) the words “or Superintendent of Police in charge of a District including

Additional Superintendent of Police” shall be omitted; and

(ii) the following shall be inserted at the end, namely:-

“and Superintendent of police in charge of District including Additional

superintendent of police who are on operational duties in the field or such other

duties as may be notified by the Government from time to time shall have a

minimum tenure of two years”.

1. ๸౾౹ಪ౨ ກಸฆ ಮൡ౨ ඩ౳ฏಭ.- (1) ಈ ಅඌඛಯಮವඝ౬ ಕකბಟಕ ඲ยೕ๯

(ൟൿ౪ಪല) ಅඌඛಯಮ, 2024 ಎಂൿ ಕฉಯತಕౙൿ౪.

(2) ಇൿ, ಈ ಁಡศ ೦คಡ ಬರತಕౙൿ౪;

2. ಪ౳ಕರಣ 20-ಎෆ ನ ൟൿ౪ಪല.- ಕකბಟಕ ඲ยೕ๯ ಅඌඛಯಮ 1963ರ

(1964ರ ಕකბಟಕ ಅඌඛಯಮ 4) 20-ಎෆ ಪ౳ಕರಣದย౵ ,-

(1) “ಒಂൿ ವಷბ” ಎಂಬ ಪದಗಳ ಬದมಜ “ಎರഴ ವಷბಗำ” ಎಂಬ ಪದಗಳඝ౬

ಪ౳ൟ෽ೕ೧ಸತಕౙൿ౪.

(2) ಉಪಪ౳ಕರಣ (2)ರย౵,-

(i) “ກೋ౞ವค ඲ยೕ๺ ๰ಪคಂങಂഷಂഡ ๳คඈ൤ ೧ว౵ಯ ಪ౳ූರದย౵ฆವ

඲ยೕ๺ ๰ಪคಂങಂഷಂಟฆ” ಎಂಬ ಪದಗಳඝ౬ ෈ഖౣ෈ಡತಕౙൿ౪.

(ii) ಆචಯย౵ ಈ ෨ಂൽನದඝ౬ ๳คಸತಕౙൿ౪, ಎಂದฉ:-

“ಮൡ౨ ౽ಲ౽ಲಃౙ ಸ౽ბರโ ಅඌ๰೉ಸಬ๾ർඈಥ ಃ౹ೕತ౳ದย౵ನ ౽෴ბಚರൕ

ಕತბವ౲ಗำ ಅಥ฿ ಅಂಥ ಇತฉ ಕತბವ౲ಗಳย౵ ඛರತฃಜฆವ ກೋ౞ವค ඲ยೕ๺

๰ಪคಂങಂഷಂഡ ๳คඈ൤ ೧ว౵ಯ ಪ౳ූರದย౵ฆವ ඲ยೕ๺ ๰ಪคಂങಂഷಂಟฆ

ಕඛಷ౤ ಎರഴ ವಷბಗಳ ಅವඌಯඝ౬ ຄಂൽರತಕౙൿ౪.”

The above translation of the Karnataka Police (Amendment) Act, 2024

(Karnataka Act No 14 of 2024) shall be authoritative text in Kannada language

under section 5-A of the Karnataka Official Language Act, 1963 (Karnataka Act 26

of 1963).
