NOTIFICATION
Whereas the Notification of declaring the Grama Panchayat Area of Ponnampete
which is a Taluka Head Quarter of Kodagu District as a Transitional area as mentioned
in the Schedule “A” along with boundaries mentioned in Schedule “B” and further to
specify as Town Panchayat Area of Ponnampete was published as required by Section-
3, 4, 9, 349, 351 and 355 of the Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964, vide Government
Notification No:UDD 221 MLR 2022, dated 06/03/2024 by providing thirty days time
and was published in part-III, No.158, Karnataka Gazette Extraordinary, dated
06/03/2024 inviting objections/suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby
on or before thirty days from the date of publication of the Notification.
And whereas the Notification was made available to the public on the day of
publication;
And whereas one suggestion received within the stipulated period was
considered;
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section-3, 4, 9, 349, 351
and 355 of the Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964 the Hon’ble Governor, hereby notify
the Grama Panchayat Area of Ponnampete which is a Taluka Head Quarter of Kodagu
District as a Transitional area as mentioned in Schedule-A along with the boundaries
mentioned in Schedule-B and further specifying such area to be the “Town Panchayat
Area of Ponnampete” having regard to:
i. The population of such area is not less than ten thousand and not more than Twenty
thousand;
ii. The density of population in such area is not less than four hundred inhabitants to
one square kilometer of area;
iii. The percentage of employment in non-agricultural activities is not less than fifty
per cent of the total employment;

North: The proposed northern boundary of Ponnampet Grama Panchayat starts at
Survey No.139 of Aruvathokkalu Village. While moving towards east the boundary
passes through Survey No.138/1, 142/6, 144/2, 171/5, 171/3, 174/10, 163/2 and passes
through a Kadanga at Survey Number 163/1 and moves further down including areas
adjoin to the boundary of Balaji Village at Survey Number.1/10, 1/1, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6
and ends at the area of Survey Number 1/2 of Mathuru village.
East: The proposed Eastern boundary of Ponnampet Gram Panchayat starts at partial
area at survey number 1/2 of Mathuru village. Moving southwards along the village
boundary of Balaji Village it passes through Survey Numbers 3/4, 3/1, 5/3, 5/10, 5/8,
5/5, 5/2,5/11, 5/3, 5/7, 5/4, 9/1, 9/2, 10/12, 10/13, 10/14, 10/2, 10/8, 10/3, 68/1, 64, 58,

91/4, 91/1, 92/4, 53, 46/2, 48/1, 44/3, 44/1, 47 of Mathuru village and ends at a stream
at survey Number 127 of Mugutageri Village. Further the proposed boundary moving
towards south from the Survey Number 9 of Mugutageri Village passes through areas
of Survey Numbers 62, 63, 54, 56 and 57/1 while adjoining borders of Kanooru village
at Survey numbers 79, 80 and 99 ends at Survey Number 100 of Mugutageri village.
South: The proposed Southern boundary of Ponnampet Gram Panchayat starts at
Survey Number 100 of Mugutageri village at South east. Further it moves towards west
through a stream at Survey Number 105/2 of Mugutageri village, and survey number
106, 107, 109, 144/1, 145- Bordering Hudikeri Village to end at survey number 146/2
of Mugutageri village.
West: The proposed western boundary of Pornnampet Gram Panchayat begins at
Survey Number 139 of Aruvathokkalu village at North West direction. Further it
moves towards down south via survey numbers 131, 132/4, 133, 134/4, 134/2, 134/5,
134/15 to end Halligattu village while covering areas of survey Numbers 14, 41, 39/1,
38, 67, 37, 66, 84, 95, 100, 99, 133 of Halligattu village. Further the proposed boundary
continues from survey Numbers of 8/3, 8/2, 8/1, 20/1 and 21/3 of Hudooru Village and
passes through a stream at survey number 30/3 and further continues through Survey
Numbers 30/10, 30/1, 35, 36/50, 36/13, 36/11 to move towards Survey Numbers 15/1,
35/2, 129 including a stream at survey number 128. The boundary further cuts across
State Highway at 35/2 and 129 and ends at 146/2 of Mugutageri village while passing
through a stream at survey number 187 and areas of survey number 130/1, 131, 146/1
which are adjacent to borders of Hudikeri Village.
