NOTIFICATION
Whereas the draft of the following rules to further to amend the Karnataka
Civil Services (Direct Recruitment) (General) Rules, 2021 was published as required
by clause (a) of sub-section (2) of Section 3 read with Section 8 of the Karnataka
State Civil services Act, 1978 (Karnataka Act 14 of 1990) in Notification No. DPAR
66 SCR 2022, dated: 20.09.2022 in Part IV-A of the Karnataka Gazette
Extraordinary dated 20.09.2022 inviting objections and suggestions from all
persons likely to be affected thereby within fifteen days from the date of publication
of the draft in the Official Gazette.
Whereas, the said Gazette was made available to the public on 20.09.2022.
And whereas, the objections and suggestions received have been considered
by the State Government.
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of
section 3 read with section 8 of the Karnataka State Civil Services Act, 1978
(Karnataka Act 14 of 1990), the Government of Karnataka hereby makes the
following rules, namely:-
RULES
1. Title andCommencement.-(1) These rules may be called the Karnataka
Civil Services (Direct Recruitment) (General) (Second Amendment) Rules, 2024.
(2) They shall come into force from the date of their final publication in the
Official Gazette.
2. Amendment of rule 6.- In the Karnataka Civil Services (Direct
Recruitment) (General) Rules, 2021, in rule (6), in sub-rule (1),-

(1) for clause (a), the following shall be substituted, namely.-
“(a) In respect of Group-A and Group-B posts where there is no interview
the examination shall be in the form of Objective Multiple Choice
consisting of two written papers carrying 300 marks each. There
shall be negative marking and one fourth of the marks allotted to the
said questions shall be deducted for every wrong answer.
(b) In respect of Group-A posts, where there is interview, the
examination shall be in the form of Descriptive Type consisting of
two written papers carrying 300 marks each.
The examination for Group-A and Group-B posts shall consist of two
papers with following syllabus, namely:-
(i) Paper-I.- General Paper:- Covering General Knowledge topics relating
to Current Affairs, General Science, Karnataka History and
Geography, Indian History and Geography, Social Sciences, General
Mental Ability,Constitution of India, Public Administration and Rural
Development,
Science
and
Technology,
Indian
Economy,
International Relations, Environment and Ecology,Reasoning Ability,
Matters of every day observation and practical knowledge as may be
expected of a person who has passed the prescribed qualifying
examination.
(ii) Paper-II.- Specific Paper:- The content of this paper shall be
determined by selection authority keeping in view the nature of the
job for which the selection is being made and the qualifying
examination is consultation with the Head of the field department or
the Appointing Authority concerned.”
(2) The existing clauses (b) and (c), shall be re-numbered as (c) and (d)
respectively.
