UNIVERSITY (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2025

A Bill further to amend the Karnataka State Rural Development and

Panchayat Raj University Act, 2016.

Whereas, it is expedient further to amend the Karnataka State Rural

Development and Panchayat Raj University Act, 2016 (Karnataka Act 16 of 2016)

for the purposes hereinafter appearing;

Be it enacted by the Karnataka State Legislature in the Seventy sixth year

of the Republic of India, as follows:-

1. Short title and commencement.-(1) This Act may be called the

Karnataka State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University (Amendment)

Act, 2025.

(2) It shall come into force at once.

2. Substitution of expression.-In the Karnataka State Rural Development

and Panchayat Raj University Act, 2016 (Karnataka Act 16 of 2016) for the words,

“the Karnataka State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University”, wherever

they occur, the words “the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Development and Panchayat Raj

University”, shall be substituted.

STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS

It is considered necessary to amend the Karnataka State Rural Development

and Panchayat Raj University Act, 2016 (Karnataka Act 16 of 2016) to change

nomenclature of “the Karnataka State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj

University” as “the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Development and Panchayat Raj

University”.

Hence the Bill.
