NOTIFICATION
In exercise of the powers conferred by Section-3 read with section-9, 349, 355,
357, 359, 360 and 361 of the Karnataka Municipalities Act 1964, His Excellency, the
Governor of Karnataka hereby proposes the present Town Municipal Area of Sedam
including Batagera.B and Batagera.K villages of Batagera.B Grama Panchayat of
Kalaburagi District to be notified as the “Smaller Urban Area” as mentioned in
Schedule “A” along with the boundaries mentioned in Schedule “B” and further to
declare as the “City Municipal Council of Sedam” and constitute the City Municipal
Council to the said smaller urban area with effect from the date of publishing this
Notification in the Official Gazette for the purpose of administration and development
having regard to:
i. The population of such area is not less than fifty thousand;
ii. The density of population in such area is not less than one thousand five
hundred inhabitants to one square kilo meter of area;
iii.
The revenue generated for local administration from such area from tax and
non-tax sources in the year of the last preceding census is not less than rupees
nine lakhs per annum or a sum calculated at the rate of rupees forty-five per
capita per annum, whichever is higher;
iv. The percentage of employment in non-agricultural activities is not less
than fifty per cent of the total employment.
The notification is hereby published for the information of the Public. All the
persons, who would like to file any objection/suggestion to this Notification are hereby
required to submit the same with reasons in writing to the Director, Directorate of
Municipal Administration, 9th Floor, V.V.Tower, Bengaluru within 30 days from
publication of this Notification in the Official Gazette. Further, Notification will be
taken up for final consideration after the mentioned period of 30 days.
