NOTIFICATION

Whereas the Notification to declare the Town Municipal Area of Bhatkal of Uttara

Kannada District including Jaali Town Panchayat and Hebale Grama Panchayat as a smaller

Urban Area and further to specify such Area as ‘City Municipal Council Area of Bhatkal’

was published as required by section-3 read with Section-4, 9, 359, 360 and 361 of the

Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964, vide Government Notification No:UDD 355 MLR 2024,

dated 25/08/2025 by providing thirty days time and was published in part- III, No.502,

Karnataka Gazette Extraordinary, dated 25/08/2025 inviting objections from all persons likely

to be affected thereby on or before thirty days from the date of publication of the above

Notification.

And whereas the Notification was made available to the public on the day of publication;

And whereas no objection/suggestion is received within the stipulated period;

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3, 9 and 361 of the

Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964, the Hon’ble Governor, hereby notify the Town

Municipal Area of Bhatkal of Uttara Kannada District including Jaali Town Panchayat and

Hebale Grama Panchayat as mentioned in Schedule-A, along with boundaries mentioned in

Schedule-B, as a “Smaller Urban Area” and further specify such area to be the “City

Municipal Council Area of Bhatkal” having regard to:

1. The population of such area is not less than fifty thousand and not more than

three lakhs;

2. The density of population in such area is not less than one thousand five hundred

inhabitants to one square kilometer of area;

3. The revenue generated for local administration from such area from tax and

non-tax sources in the year of the last preceding census is not less than rupees

nine lakhs per annum or a sum calculated at the rate of rupees forty five per

capita per annum, whichever is higher;

4. The percentage of employment in non-agricultural activities is not less than fifty

per cent of the total employment;

of Susagadi village and moves towards the right through the eastern boundary of R Sy. No.352

and crosses the State Highway-55 and meets the south corner of the same R Sy. No.352. then

it moves south-eastwards through the north-eastern boundary of R Sy. No. 267A of Susagadi

Village and meets the north-west corner of R Sy. No.264 of Susagadi village. Then the same

R Sy. No.264 running eastward along the northern boundary crosses the Konkan Railway line

and meets the north-eastern corner of the same R Sy. No.264. it runs eastward through the

northern boundary of Sy. No.263A and 263 B of Susagadi village and meets the south-west

corner of R Sy. No. 241 of Susagadi village. Then it moves north-eastwards through the

the eastern boundary of R Sy No.4 B and crossing the R Sy No. 68 A (Partially) of Puravarga

village and moving southward through the eastern boundary of R Sy. No.127 of Puravarga

Village, it meets south corner of the same R Sy. No.127. then same R Sy. No. 127 and R Sy.

No. 66 of Puravarga village moving in an north-west direction through the southern boundary

of the same R Sy. No.66 meets the south-west corner. Moving with the perimeter of R. Sy.

No.35 of Puravarga Village and meets south-east corner of the R Sy No.68B. Then the same

R Sy No.68B meets the south-west corner trough the southern boundary. Then the same R Sy

No.68B moving in a westerly direction through the western boundary meets the south-east

corner of R Sy.No.110 of Puravarga village. Then the same R SNo.110 moving south-

westwards through the southern boundary of same R Sy No. 110 and meets the south-west

Then cross the ditch and go to Jaali village of R Sy No.126 meets the south corner. Then the

RS No.126 North-westward through the southern boundary of the RS No.127 of Jaali village

meets the southern corner. This same R Sy. No.127 and R S No.128, 129, 130, 135, 136, 187,

137, 146, 147, 148 and 188 moving towards north direction and reaches the northwest corner

of RS No.188. then R S No.271 of Jaali village moving westward though through south

boundary and the same R S No.271 and R S No.270, 253, 252, 269 of Jaali village moving

towards southern side through westwards boundary. Same R S No.269 meets north-west

corner. Then same R S No.269 moving towards western side through north boundary then RS

No.254 of Jaali village meets south-west corner. Thereafter moving Northwards through west

boundary of same RS No. 254, 251 and merge on starting point 'A' of Part-I of Jaali Local

Project area.
