THE BOMBAY PUBLIC TRUST (KARNATAKA AMENDMENT) ACT, 2025

(Received the assent of the Governor on the 6^th day of January, 2026)

An Act to amend the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 in its application to the

State of Karnataka.

Whereas it is expedient to amend the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950

(Bombay Act XXIX of 1950) in its application to the State of Karnataka for the

purposes hereinafter appearing;

Be it enacted by the Karnataka State Legislature in the seventy sixth year of

the Republic of India, as follows:-

1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Bombay

Public Trust (Karnataka Amendment) Act, 2025.

(2) It shall come in to force on such date as the State Government may by

notification in the Official Gazette appoint.

2. Substitution of section 4.- In the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950

(Bombay Act XXIX of 1950) (hereinafter referred to as the Principal Act), for section

4, the following shall be substituted, namely:-

“4. Appointment of Charity Commissioner and Joint Charity

Commissioner.- (1) The Regional Commissioner, Belagavi Region shall be the

Charity Commissioner.

(2) The Deputy Commissioner of the concerned district shall be the Joint

Charity Commissioner.”

3. Amendment of section 5.- In section 5, of the Principal Act,-

(i) for sub-section (2), the following shall be substituted, namely:-

“(2) The Assistant Commissioner of the concerned sub-division shall

be the Deputy Charity Commissioner.”; and

(ii) for sub-section (2A), the following shall be substituted, namely:-

“(2A) The Tahasildar of the concerned Taluk shall be the Assistant Charity

Commissioner.”

ಇൿ, ූರತ ಗಣฃಜ౲ದ ಎಪ౭൞౨ರඡ ವಷბದย౵ ಕකბಟಕ ฃಜ౲ เඋನ෱ಡಲൽಂದ ಈ

෨ಂൽඦ൤ ಅඌඛಯ෦ತ฿ಗย:-

1. ๸౾౹ಪ౨ ກಸฆ ಮൡ౨ ඩ౳ฏಭ.- (1) ಈ ಅඌඛಯಮವඝ౬ ෇ಂ෍ ๬ವბಜඛಕ ක౲ಸ

(ಕකბಟಕ ൟൿ౪ಪല) ಅඌඛಯಮ, 2025 ಎಂൿ ಕฉಯತಕౙൿ౪.

“4. ಧ෥ბർಯ ಆ෷ಕ౨ฆ ಮൡ౨ ೲഔ ಧ෥ბർಯ ಆ෷ಕ౨ರ ඡಮ౽ൟ.-

(1) ඩ౳ඃ๏ಕ ಆ෷ಕ౨ฆ, ෍ಳಛเ เූಗ ಇವฆ ಧ෥ბർಯ ಆ෷ಕ౨ฃಜರತಕౙൿ౪.

(2) ๸ීಧಪಟౣ ೧ว౵ಯ ೧ม౵ඌ౽ค෷ ೲഔ ಧ෥ბർಯ ಆ෷ಕ౨ฃಜರತಕౙൿ౪.”

3. ಪ౳ಕರಣ 5ರ ൟൿ౪ಪല.- ෩ಲ ಅඌඛಯಮದ ಪ౳ಕರಣ 5ರย౵,-

(i) ಉಪ-ಪ౳ಕರಣ (2)ರ ಬದมಜ ಈ ෨ಂൽನದඝ౬ ಪ౳ൟ෽ೕ೧ಸತಕౙൿ౪, ಎಂದฉ:-

“(2) ๸ීಧಪಟౣ ಉಪ เූಗದ ಉಪ เූಛඌ౽ค෷ ಉಪಧ෥ბർಯ

ಆ෷ಕ౨ฃಜರತಕౙൿ౪.”

(ii) ಉಪ-ಪ౳ಕರಣ (2ಎ) ಬದมಜ ಈ ෨ಂൽನದඝ౬ ಪ౳ൟ෽ೕ೧ಸತಕౙൿ౪, ಎಂದฉ:-

“(2ಎ) ๸ීಧಪಟౣ ൞ล౵౾ನ ತಹ๏ೕม౪ರฆ ಸ๻ಯಕ ಧ෥ბർಯ

ಆ෷ಕ౨ฃಜರತಕౙൿ౪.”

The above translation of the Bombay Public Trust (Karnataka Amendment)

Act, 2025 (Karnataka Act No. 03 of 2026) shall be an authoritative text in Kannada

language under section 6 of the Kannada Language Comprehensive Development

Act, 2022 (Karnataka Act No. 13 of 2023).
